Challenge:

Design a 12-month calendar under tight time and budget constraints. Come up with a solid creative strategy to reinforce calendar content and drive contributions.

Solution:

With less than eight weeks from initial meeting to press check, the biggest challenge was quickly reaching consensus on the overall creative concept.

During the initial client meeting, we scoped out a game plan for streamlining the creative process in order to maintain the required production schedule. Our next step was extending preliminary client ideas to create the design concept.

Photography selection and copyediting were finalized during concepting, and following one minor round of concept refinement we started final production.

The warm, inviting calendar pairs vibrant "garden" photography with bible passages and brief reflective comments. The palette's soft greens and yellows provide a striking backdrop for the brilliant colors in the nature photographs.

Results:

Mailed as an annual "thank you," the calendar is a central fundraiser for the organization. In addition to receiving many thank you notes and compliments on the calendar's quality, the piece effectively drove contributions.

We hit a 14% response rate (compared to 6% last year) and saw total donations rise by 10%, despite a significantly smaller mailing base.
